Beef and Broccoli is a popular Chinese stir-fry dish that blends tender beef slices with crisp broccoli in a savory sauce. Its quick cooking time and delightful taste make it a convenient choice for weeknight dinners. The secret to achieving a great Beef and Broccoli is marinating the beef thoroughly and cooking it swiftly over high heat to maintain its tenderness. With a short preparation and cooking time, this dish is likely to become a staple in dinner plans.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, and cornstarch until smooth.
  2. Add the sliced beef to the marinade, ensuring it is well coated, and let it sit for 10 minutes.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over high heat until shimmering.
  4. Add the marinated beef in a single layer, and cook, stirring occasionally, until browned, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Add broccoli and beef broth to the skillet, stirring to combine.
  6. Cook for 3-5 minutes until broccoli is tender-crisp and the sauce has thickened.
  7. Remove from heat and serve immediately over rice or noodles.

A Great Weeknight Meal!

April 23, 2025

Quick, easy, and delicious! The sauce was flavorful but a little sweet for my taste. I’ll probably cut down the brown sugar next time but it was a great easy dinner for a weeknight. I served it with white rice.
